A light-hearted start of ImPulsTanz
08/07/2026
VIENNA A light-hearted start to ImPulsTanz. The Festival kicks off this year with My Fierce Ignorant Step by Christos Papadopoulos (D&D Award 2025). On stage at the Volkstheater, ten dancers evoke the carefree lightness of youth and the fearless trust in a world that lies open before us – accompanied by a powerful soundscape inspired by Mikis Theodorakis’s Axion Esti from 1964. On 9 July and 11 July at 21:00, and on 10 and 12 July as additional performances at 19:00.
At Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz, the festival begins in silence: in his virtuoso and powerful solo Muette, Boris Charmatz / Terrain creates an intimate setting. He takes to the stage naked and sets the unconscious dancing – on 10 July at 21:00, on 11 July at 22:30 (add-on) and on 12 July at 21:00. T
he festival kicks off at Odeon on 11 July at 19:00 and on 13 July at 21:00 with Rush(es), in which Alexandra Bachzetsis explores how commercial genres and the arts influence one another through the use of gesture and movement. Beforehand, at 18:00, the opening of Christopher Matthews’ Photo/Copy/Archive at Odeon foyer invites visitors to explore a personal, alternative dance archive. Open one hour before the start of each performance at Odeon.
